qEEG Brain Mapping- Toronto

qEEG Brain Mapping

qEEG stands for quantitative electroencephalogram also known as a qEEG brain mapping assessment. A qEEG is used as a non-diagnostic assessment to measure or map the brain’s electrical activity for the purposes of Neurofeedback training. Brainwaves are patterns of electrical activity that occur in the brain and different brainwaves have different frequencies (slow, fast, etc). The frequency of a brainwave helps us tell one brainwave pattern apart from another. A qEEG brain mapping can help clinicians understand what brain areas, brainwave patterns, and other applied neuroscience statistics may be contributing to the symptoms you are experiencing.

Breakdown of a qEEG Brain Mapping

Clinical Intake Appointment

The process begins with meeting a clinician to discuss background, medical, developmental, and educational history, symptoms and their severity, major life events, and family make up to better understand your unique case.

qEEG Brain Mapping

This is where we record your electrical brainwave activity. We use dry-electrode technology that has 19 electrodes that sit on your scalp recording brainwave activity. Similar to how a stethoscope sits on your chest to hear your heartbeat. This is completely safe and non-invasive.

Debrief/Feedback Session

Once all testing and questionnaires are completed, we discuss the results of tests and questionnaires, explain what they mean, and then give you a chance to ask questions.

Report Writing

Report Writing

The findings of the assessment are composed into a written report with detailed recommendations. Most clients do not opt in for a report as those financial resources are usually invested for Neurofeedback training.
