Teachers are the backbone of our education system, ensuring that each generation of students is prepared for their futures. They foster positive learning environments, encourage academic growth, and act as major role models and support systems for students. This job, however, does not come without pressure. The COVID-19 pandemic impacted the educational system, with increased pressures on teachers to navigating online education and reworking their teaching. Additionally, in Ontario, class sizes have increased while school resources reportedly have not. Teachers are expected to manage classes of over thirty students, address classroom conflicts, and ensure that each student receives the help they need to thrive.

Unique Challenges Facing Teachers
Many teachers still experience mental strains post-pandemic. Teaching during the COVID pandemic left many teachers feeling isolated, unsupported and burnt out from having to rework the curriculum. This can lead to depression, chronic stress, sleep issues, and anxiety.
In addition, teachers may experience difficulties in the workplace with parents and students. Considering that classroom sizes are increasing, conflicts may also grow more frequent, as students and parents also experience strain in the educational system and may attribute it to teachers. Teachers often have to balance lesson plans for dozens of students with individualized needs, and this may lead to burnout and impact mental health. As teachers are a vital part of our education system, and considering the unique difficulties that they face, teachers may require support to continue delivering exceptional schooling.

Options
Medication and counselling may be effective for many people, but what if therapy and medication are not making a difference? Some teachers do not want to be on medication, and others have tried talking about their problems and may want another option. After repeated exposure to stress, the brain can feel “stuck” and “locked” in patterns of hypervigilance, avoidance, or numbness despite consistent effort. For these teachers, Neurofeedback offers a non-invasive approach that trains the brain to be more regulated. It can help guide the nervous system toward being calmer and more flexible. Over time, this can support improved sleep, focus, and resilience, complementing, or for some, offering an alternative to, medication and counselling alone.

Our clinic conducts a comprehensive qEEG analysis to design tailored neurofeedback training programs for each client.
Type of Training
For adolescents and adults, our clinic offers an integrated neurofeedback program that can combine 19-channel z-score training, sLORETA training, and sLORETA coherence training.
State-of-the-art Technology
We use dry-electrode technology, which does not require gel or paste for setup. This makes the training process more comfortable, allows the client to complete 32-40 minutes of brain training in 50-minute sessions, and is more convenient, as you do not have to immediately go home to rinse the gel from your scalp.

Clinical Intake Interview
We start off with a Clinical Intake Interview. This is where we review background, medical, and developmental history, your symptoms and their severity, major life events, and do our best to conceptualize the uniqueness of your case.
qEEG Brain Mapping Assessment
The next step is a non-diagnostic Quantitative Electroencephalogram (QEEG) baseline recording. Just as a stethoscope is placed on your chest to listen to your heartbeat, electrodes are placed on your scalp to record your brainwave activity. This helps us establish a baseline of your brainwave activity and helps us decide the areas and metrics to include in your personalized Neurofeedback training plan.
Custom Program Creation
Using the information from your clinical intake interview, baseline recording, and intake package, we create a tailored Neurofeedback training program to address your needs and help you accomplish your goals.
Debrief/Feedback Session
Finally, we discuss the results with you to clarify the metrics and brainwave patterns involved in your program, and answer your questions before you begin Neurofeedback training.
